Description:

More highlights from my "NightLife Show" which ran on local cable TV in FL from 1980-1986. This condensed episode features an 8mm sound film of the last launch of an Apollo rocket from Cape Canaveral, FL. The Apollo-Soyuz Test Project was the first joint flight of the U.S. and Soviet space programs. The mission took place on July 15,1975. For the United States, it was the last Apollo flight, as well as the last manned space launch until the flight of the first Space Shuttle in April 1981. For the Soviet Union it was the last manned space flight until Soyuz 21 in June 1976. The 8mm film was shot using a portable tape recorder for the on-site sound. Orlando photographer Pat Dappolonia is along to provide some of the commentary. Air Date: September 4, 1981

Amazing, back when the Shuttle was a heavily watched event in the early 80's. And the Apollo Soyuz, that was the last Apollo capsule. Kinda wierd that we are going back to capsules again, but reusable. I m gonna miss the shuttle that has been around since I was 12

Hi. Yes...it will be strange when the shuttle's will be gone. I was thinking, the shuttles are still around since 81 and are still flying!! 25 years!!
