Commander17 ::: Favorites F-22 Raptors wer just a dream in the 80's I suspect. The F-14 ad it all, adaptable wings for high speed and low drag for supersonic speeds and it can increase the drag for dogfights for faster turning. At least I think lol. Plus F-14 is now a symbol thank to Top Gun, the F-22 is an amazing fighter yes, but its not as admired as the Tomcat. 07-09-04 13:43:19 __________________________________________________
Foxstab ::: Favorites Well said, michael, I agree completely. Dogfighters carry AIM-9 for close range (or possibly AIM-7) and AIM-120 for medium range. The AIM-54 was designed mainly as a defensive missile for scratching off bombers not high-maneuverability fighters at close range, obviously it performs poorly with the latter. The F-14 itself is quite capable in dogfights, it's just not the best suited dogfighter. 07-09-02 05:17:07 __________________________________________________
