harminygrits ::: Favorites that eye movement Jake was doing is what we call the 'eye thingy"--Ashton grew out of it 07-03-07 08:49:23 __________________________________________________
musichalloffame ::: Favorites Wow, when you said facination with fans, i thought of my cousin kevin. KEvin has ADD and when he was little he did the same thing. do you know why he was fasnated with fans? Also Phil can I cite you in my papers? I am starting to write papers on this kind of thing and you have been really helpful and I woulfd like to cite you if I could in a paper. (no real plans right now but i am sure one day i might ) 07-03-07 04:36:22 __________________________________________________
suburbanmom ::: Favorites The fans might have been because they are repetitive and hypnotizing. It might also be because of the hum of the motor. 07-03-07 05:25:45 __________________________________________________
harminygrits ::: Favorites fascination with the fans can be a sensory issue--my son likes movement and things that move--and figuring why and how they move. I have to add that my son is not autistic--he has receptive/expressive language delay. Also, a lot of kids just like to watch the fans go around and around--its only when it is coupled with many other issues that it can be related to a developmental problem--but I'm no expert. 07-03-08 13:30:38 __________________________________________________
tiffsherwood ::: Favorites I can relate totally to wanting to believe the stories that people tell you -I loved the one about Einstein talking very late...I have twin boys and they always tell you that twins talk later...they had 30-40 words (and major comprehension problems, etc) at 3.5 and their DR said "don't worry, they're twins & boys, they will talk later" I waited until they were 4 to seek help because of him... grrrr- And JUST now, at 6, they got diagnosed 07-03-07 03:08:29 __________________________________________________
PhilCommander2 ::: Favorites exactly, the VERY SAME people who told me not to worry came back later and said "yeah, we knew something was wrong" (MAJOR GRRRRR)I felt like saying to them 'ya know, you didnt do me or my son any favors!'. Thats why i think that the people who made up the crap that 'all kids develope at different speeds' were doctors who were tired of worried moms calling them all the time. call them up people! be the pain in the butt parent. Theyre getting paid for it 07-03-07 03:51:43 __________________________________________________
harminygrits ::: Favorites At what age was Jake when the doctors changed their opinion? I am curious b/c Ashton--very similar to Jake--was diagnosed as having only a receptive/expressive language delay--he has only improved--no regression. 07-03-07 08:48:27 __________________________________________________
suburbanmom ::: Favorites Tiff - I also have twins. I heard the same spiel about how twins supposedly talk later. They were both diagnosed with PDD at about 2 1/2. Luckily they were wrong about my daughter. My son, her twin, is autistic. 07-03-07 05:22:59 __________________________________________________ |
