Al Jolson caricature wasn't thin, he was a very great star and singer. This version is greater and so beautiful, it's so much better then the later versions. The later versions are terrible and are made for teenagers, not for adults. These later versions are so awful in compare of Al Jolson his version. He was the greatest star ever.

I don' know about that. Jolson's mammyesque caricature wears thin. The song has no soul. The Flamencos and the Platters did it much better and I even think William Hung could do it better.

Aj Jolson originally recorded for the American Brunswick label during the '20s and early '30s, so it's interesting to see this later recording released on his "original" label! This was originally released on {American} Decca in 1947, at the time he found new popularity as a result of "The Jolson Story" and his "KRAFT MUSIC HALL" radio show at the time.
