and let me add... i mean maybe it doesnt prevent exactly the next tragedy. But it might prevent that one that would have been started through a non-action a couple of years later. You always giving something that people can pass on, it might be action or non-action.

the "morality" you talk about isnt the same for all sane people. It is a set of values. And some "sane" people wants us to solve conflicts by war(ie. killing people). i guess you could argue wether "the morality" is somethign that is socially given/created or damaged/eliminated. but the core point: it is preventable. Now, this is not prevented by beating it in to people whats right and wrong. but through acting with generousity and kindness. I really think its that simple.

Mental illness can only increase this sinful or wrongful behavior especially if the illness could shut some of the morality out.

Hi Tom, wonderful thoughts on such a tragic event such as this. I would love to be able to talk with you more in depth but I 'll just give an overall gist of what I believe about the subject. Human beings whether they believe in a super natural being or not, all know the difference between right and wrong. People are born with a sense of morality.

I believe that the judges decided to seal the final documents on the Columbine shooting and some say that we still to-day, 8 years after, don't know what made those 2 boys ACT OUT on their thoughts. I hope this time we will get some answers, at the end of all the investigations.

In this instance I believe the young man was seriously mentally ill, which led him to act based on delusions. Overall, I think our brains are complex, multi-level structures, some of which are based on ancient dynamics: fight/flight being a pretty successful evolutionary strategy for both sexes.
